goodr has once again partnered with Breaking Silence to spread awareness about domestic and sexual violence. This year’s exclusive co-lab is “Thank You In Sharing,” teal sunglasses named after the brave survivors who came forward to share their stories, empowering others to do the same. 100% of proceeds go directly to Breaking Silence.
For the third year in a row, the launch coincides with Domestic Violence Awareness Month. (That’s right, October isn’t just Put On A Stupid Costume And Get Drunk Month.) Last year goodr and Breaking Silence collaborated on Flamingos Can Fly Too sunglasses, while the previous year they dropped Use Your Words shades. (Wooo! We’re on a streak!)
Breaking Silence is a nonprofit that creates conversations to prevent interpersonal violence and spread empathy for the survivors. “Every survivor deserves the opportunity to have their story told,” said Alli Watt, Executive Director of Breaking Silence and Head of Sales for goodr. “We believe breaking silence is the most powerful way to create change.”
When asked about the new sunglasses, goodr’s avian CEO Carl The Flamingo said, “SQUUUUAWWWKKK!” This translates to: “Thank you to all the survivors for sharing their empowering stories. Wow. That’s the first time I ever said ‘thank you.’ It felt nice! Glad I didn’t make a bad joke about burping, then saying ‘thank you for sharing.’ Inappropriate.”
