goodr x lensabl

You already knew goodr’s active sunglasses won’t slip or bounce no matter how sweaty you get–  but did you know they can also help you see sh*t? IT’S TRUE!!! Prescription sunglasses from goodr have officially arrived. Finally, you can be free from trying to awkwardly layer your goodrs over your regular glasses or sacrificing your style if sports goggles aren’t your jam. The exact look of goodr sunglasses is now available in your prescription.

This one is pretty straightforward. Prescription sunglasses are literally just sunglasses that you can order with prescription lenses. Before, you could take a pair of goodrs to your optometrist and have them order lenses that could fit into the frames, but in addition to adding an extra in-person step (plus scheduling, plus co-pays) to the process, you didn’t have the guarantee of an exact color match for the lenses you’d receive.

Now, you can simply select the pair of prescription goodr frames you’d like, then order the lenses directly through our partner Lensabl and get them delivered directly to your door.

You’ve got options when it comes to lenses for your goodr frames. Read on to learn about the specific types of lenses you can get in your frames below:

Prescription Lenses

Now that goodr is officially in the prescription sunglasses game, you can order select pairs of our top-selling active shades with your prescription lenses and get an exact match of the non-prescription look. Just select the frames and then you’ll be transported over to our partner Lensabl to enter the prescription you received from your optometrist and select all the other specifications. Need bifocals? Want a blue-light blocking coating? You can select all the upgrades you’d like and order directly through the site.

 Non-Prescription

But what if you want non-prescription lenses? If you wear contacts, you can pick from any of our regular non-prescription sunglasses. If you don’t wear contacts or need prescription sunglasses, it’s kinda weird that you’re on this page, but hey, we don’t judge. Check out your options and pick your new favorite shades today.

Tinted Lenses

Ever noticed sunglasses lenses come in a lot of different colors? Though it is indeed fashionable as f*ck, there are deeper reasons behind it as well. There are two big factors you should look for in your tinted lenses.

Visible Light Transmission (VLT)

The VLT refers to how much light can pass through the lens. So the higher the VLT, the more transparent the lens will be. If you can see your eyes through your sunglasses, they have a higher VLT than darker, mirrored lenses. High VLT sunglasses are great for lowlight conditions like going for a run at dawn or an evening biker ride. They’re also great for cloudy days to make sure enough light gets through to keep your vision sharp.

Low VLT means less light can pass through the lens, making them an excellent choice for sunny days or bright overhead light. How do you know it’s a low VLT lens? You won’t be able to see your eyes through the lenses when you’re wearing them.

Lens Colors and Potential Benefits

There are several different lens colors you can choose from when selecting sunglasses with tinted lenses. Each color can offer different potential benefits. See below to figure out which tint is best for you.

  • Green Lenses: provides even color perception, brightens up dark shadows, and cuts back on glare, which may help pop contrast. For a prime example, check out our Flamingos on a Booze Cruise sunglasses.
  • Brown Lenses: Good for everyday conditions that may change throughout the day, can help pop contrast, and a slight red tint in the coloration may help improve depth perception. Want brown lenses? Check out our Bosley’s Basset Hound Dreams.
  • Rose Lenses: The tint in these lenses can reduce eye strain and improve depth perception, boosting contrast and helping pop ground visibility. Although we don’t currently offer rose-tinted lenses in prescription, we’re working internally to add more options in the future. If you wear contacts, you can check out a pair of our Pineapple Painkillers for a fun tropical design and pink-tinted lenses.
  • Yellow Lenses: Great for low-light conditions like overcast days, fog, or hazy mornings. Helps cut down on blue-violet lights from screens to potentially reduce eye strain.
  • Blue Lenses: Reduces glare, enhances the ability to perceive colors, and gives additional definition to contours. Check out Mick and Keith’s Midnight Ramble sunnies.
  • Black and Gray Lenses: As the darkest tint, these lenses are great for cutting down bright overhead light, minimizing glare, and providing true color perception. Our It’s Not Black, It’s Obsidian Circle G sunnies are a great example of these lenses in action.

Blue-Light Blocking Lenses

Looking for some blue-light-blocking clear lens glasses to reduce potential eyestrain? Just select clear when you’re ordering lenses on our partner site and you’ll be able to put clear lenses into any of the sunglasses frames currently offered in prescription.

Affordable Frames

We get it– prescription sunglasses can be expensive. So looking for affordable frames (or as we say at goodr, ‘ffordable frames) is a great way to cut down on some of the cost of prescription sunglasses. The select goodrs available for prescription lenses range from just $25-$35, so you can put your budget toward selecting the perfect prescription lenses through our partner Lensabl.

It’s never been easier to order prescription sports sunglasses that are perfectly suited to your unique fit, color, and lens preferences. Order your pair of prescription goodr sunglasses today and run to your nearest window or mirror for a crystal clear view of how bangin’ you look in these shades.

How much do prescription sunglasses cost?

This all depends on the cost of the frames and lenses. Since each prescription lens will be unique to the person ordering them, there’s a wide variety of price points for the lenses themselves. That said, you can always count on goodr frames to be available at a ‘ffordable price point, starting at just $25.

Are prescription sunglasses covered by insurance?

This depends on your insurance, but a lot of times they are!!! Whether you’re using an FSA/HSA card or getting reimbursed, you can often get your prescription sunglasses covered by insurance, or at least partially covered. Check with your specific insurance provider to see if you’re covered.

Are prescription sunglasses worth it?

Abso-fricken-lutely!!! The ease of being able to see clearly in sunglasses without worrying about contacts can be a total game changer. This is even more crucial for people who love to be active outdoors and need a great pair of sunglasses that not only helps with optical clarity but also won’t slip or bounce while they move. (And not to brag, but active sunglasses that don’t slip or bounce are kiiinda our whole thing. And let’s be real, we’ll brag about it all day too.) Order your prescription goodr sunglasses now and see for yourself.
